Before we get started, I'd like to remind you that the SL23B Shop & Hop ends at the same time as the Second Life anniversary celebrations. That means you only have a few days left to grab the amazing gifts the designers have prepared for us.
First, a quick reminder: there are four SL Shop & Hop events each year:
- Valentine's Day
- Second Life Anniversary
- Halloween
- Christmas
Each one is a fantastic opportunity to collect freebies and store credits.
Store Credit vs. Gift Cards
During the SL Shop & Hop, some designers give away Store Credit or Gift Cards. There is an important difference between the two:
Store Credit is tied to your account and cannot be transferred.
Gift Cards, on the other hand, can be transferred, making them perfect for giving to a friend.
Some of these offers are available for a limited time, while others have no expiration date. If a Store Credit doesn't expire, you can often accumulate credits over multiple Shop & Hop events, provided the store participates each time. Whenever Store Credit has an expiration date, it is always clearly indicated at the Shop & Hop booth.
Most Store Credits must be spent at the designer's main store, but some creators also allow you to use them directly at their Shop & Hop booth. This is especially nice because you can use your credit on both free and discounted items, allowing you to get even more for your money.
In the outfit I'm wearing today, both the shorts and the top are from Vagrant, and I used my Store Credit directly at their Shop & Hop booth.
My entire outfit is made up of either free items or products purchased with Store Credit. Every SLURL I share for the Shop & Hop will take you directly to the featured store.
I also highly recommend the Fabulous Free in SL blog page, where you can browse the complete list of gifts with preview photos. This incredible resource is created by passionate bloggers, and I'm personally very grateful for all the time and effort they put into sharing it with the community.
Little tip: At the bottom of the page, you can sort the list by store name, gift type, or sim. It's an incredibly useful tool when you're hunting for gifts!
